Hsinchu, Taiwan, Oct. 27, 2015- Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced the financial results for the third quarter of 2015. On a consolidated basis including members of Winbond Electronics Corp. and Nuvoton Technology Corp. etc., net sales were NT$9.534 billion, up 3% QoQ. Gross margin was 28%. Net income for the third quarter was NT$731 million; earnings per share was NT$0.18.
As far as memory business is concerned, revenue in the third quarter from Specialty DRAM accounted for 54% of net sales. The Specialty DRAM revenue was up 8% QoQ due to growth in automotive electronics. In addition, 46nm products accounted for 84% Specialty DRAM revenue, versus 79% in 2Q15. Revenue in the third quarter from Mobile DRAM accounted for 10% of net sales, down 15% QoQ because of slow demand in existing mobile device customers. Revenue in the third quarter from Flash Memory accounted for 36% of net sales, up 4% QoQ mainly due to surging demand in networking. In addition, 1Gb Code Storage Flash accounted for 8% of total Flash revenue, versus 6% in 2015.
